Small bronze swivel-cannon with yoke, probably from the Dutch East Indies, 1700s. 16 lb total. 18" long. Like its much larger brethren, this compact cannon has all the working parts in miniature, with deep chocolate-brown coloring all over, rusty but functional yoke, one top loop broken off but attractive small dolphin handles intact. The larger type of this cannon would have been mounted to the rail of a ship and aimed with tillers during close combat or for signaling purposes.
